On June 13, thanks largely to the work that letter carriers put in educating their House representatives, H.Res. 15, expressing the sense that six-day mail delivery should continue, has reached the important milestone figure of 218 co-sponsors. If the resolution were put to a vote today, it would almost certainly pass the House.

Since the resolution was introduced at the start of 115th Congress by Reps. Sam Graves (R-MO) and Gerry Connolly (D-VA), thousands of letter carriers have contacted their House representatives, educating them on the importance of Saturday delivery as well as service standards and door delivery. Capitol Hill saw hundreds of letter carriers visit their representatives in their offices over the last six months, and it clearly has made a difference as language calling for preservation of six-day mail delivery will be included in the appropriations bill and likely adopted.

We can not stop now, though. All of our supported resolutions have seen broad bipartisan backing in previous Congresses, and our progress toward exceeding a majority of voting co-sponsors for each is on track. There’s more work to do—keep it up.
