Recent letter carrier deaths

NALC is deeply saddened to learn of the recent deaths of these active letter carriers.

Henry Tsang died in his postal vehicle on Sept. 20, 2021. Brother Tsang was a member of San Mateo, CA Branch 1280 and he carried the mail for 41 years. He was 71.

Douglas Parker was found unconscious next to his LLV on April 13. He was transferred to the hospital and later died. Brother Parker was a 33-year letter carrier and a member of Massachusetts Northeast Merged Branch 25. Douglas is survived by his wife Denise and his daughter Shannon. He was 53.

Ankem Chu died in a car accident on his way to work on April 18. Brother Chu was a new city carrier assistant and had been with the Postal Service for two weeks. He was a member of Hudson Valley, NY Branch 137. He was 23.

David Viera died while on duty on April 25. Brother Viera was a letter carrier for 37 years and was a member of West Palm Beach, FL Branch 1690. He was 69.

“NALC is saddened by the deaths of these letter carriers,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said. “We mourn their losses and send our deepest sympathies to their family, friends and colleagues.”
