Get to work! Congress should be doing more to help save the Postal Service—and it can start by eliminating the unfair mandate it created in 2006 that USPS spend billions each year to pre-fund the health benefits of future retirees. Such a move is called for by the Postal Service Protection Act, sponsored by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR). (The Buffalo News)

Going your way: While USPS competes with FedEx and UPS for business, those two private delivery companies rely on the Postal Service to provide "last-mile" delivery. Letter carriers already visit every residential and commercial address in America, so it makes good economic sense to make full use of a centuries-old network that's already in place.
