Action Needed: Tell Congress to Include Funding for Postal Service in Relief Package

This week, Congress resumes discussions over the fourth (and likely final) Covid-19 relief package before it departs for August recess and potentially the November election. With only days left to sort out major differences on important issues, it is critical that members of Congress reach agreement on providing relief to the Postal Service.

With the clock ticking, NALC sent a letter to House and Senate leadership urging them to provide $25 billion in financial relief, more favorable loan terms, hazard pay for letter carriers and safeguard critical services provided by USPS during the pandemic. Click here to view the letter.

In May, the House passed its relief package, which included postal relief (click here) but unfortunately, the Senate has yet take any action on a relief package and its unclear as to whether the two chambers will be able to reach a deal. With this stalemate, it is imperative that letter carriers use this week to call and send messages every day to their House and Senate representatives. Tell them not to leave town until they provide relief to the Postal Service.

TAKE ACTION: Most DC offices are open with limited staff so we ask that you make a call and send a message.

  1. Call the switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your senators and your House member - that’s 3 calls to the switchboard.
  2. Take a minute and send a message here. If you have already sent a message over the past few months, that’s ok – personalize and send a new one.
